Cookie Policy
Last updated: 5 July 2026
This policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on my website. This policy sits alongside my Privacy Policy, which explains how I handle your personal information more generally.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website can store on your device when you visit. They’re widely used to make sites work, to remember your preferences, and to collect information about how a site is used. “Similar technologies” include things like local storage and web fonts loaded from another server, which can work in comparable ways.
Does this website use cookies?
Yes, but only a small number, and only for analytics. My website uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use my site — for example which pages are most popular and roughly which country visitors come from. This helps me see what’s working and improve the site. I don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and I haven’t linked Google Analytics to any advertising products.
To do this, Google Analytics stores a few small cookies on your device. These are non-essential — the site works fine without them — and they last up to about two years unless you clear them. They’re only used to count and understand visits, not to identify you or advertise to you.
I don’t currently show a cookie consent banner, so these analytics cookies are set when you visit. If you’d rather not be included, you can opt out at any time — the easiest ways are to install Google’s Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or to block or delete cookies in your browser (see “Managing cookies” below).
Third-party services
A few external services are involved in running the site:
- Google Analytics — provided by Google, this is what sets the analytics cookies described above and gives me anonymous statistics about how the site is used. Your data may be processed by Google outside the UK. You can read Google’s own Privacy Policy and about how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- Fonts — the fonts on this site are bundled with the site itself and are not loaded from a third-party server.
- Website hosting — my website host may keep basic technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the site running and secure. This is standard for almost any website and isn’t used to track you.
Links to other sites
My website and social profiles link out to other services, such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Amazon. If you click through to any of these, that site may set its own cookies and collect information according to its own policies. I have no control over those cookies, so please check the relevant site’s cookie and privacy policies.
Managing cookies
You’re always in control of cookies in your browser. You can block or delete cookies — including the Google Analytics cookies above — through your browser settings, and set your browser to warn you before a site stores one. Most browsers explain how to do this in their help pages — just search for “cookies” in your browser’s settings. To opt out of Google Analytics specifically across all websites, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Changes to this policy
If I add or change any tools or features on my website in future, I’ll update this policy to match. When I make changes, I’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
